The absolute dumbest thing is that you can bring her to Fort Dawnguard first. Then Isran tells you to do what she tells you, despite her having a goddamn Elder Scrolls clearly visible on her back. And later on he acts surprised that you let this happen, which makes zero sense if you came back to see him first after Dimhollow Crypt. Followers, Serana in particular, tend to dissapear when left in one place. The best way to get her back is to load the previous save you were with her. Always keep multiple saved in case something like this happens.
