Thanks for this post. I'm doing my first ever triathlon in August and it's an xterra. It's also my first bike race of any kind and my first open water swimming race. Maybe I should have started things off with a normal sprint tri but whatever - I'm already registered!! My question is - do I really need special swim and bike wear?Yep, do it. It makes your roadie more versatile until you know for sure that you like triathlon before you go and make a purchase on an all out tri-bike. I use these on my '07 Specialized. I do just one or two tri's per year and I think they work perfect.
